From nuclear power station to green field
Complete dismantling of Germany's first nuclear power station in Kahl/Main successfully completed
Germany's first ever nuclear power station set its first atomic chain reaction in motion 50 years ago.
Throughout its history, the Kahl experimental atomic power station (VAK) in Karlstein am Main has created benchmarks for other atomic power plants during its erection, throughout its operation and also during its dismantlement. It has provided numerous important findings and extensive experience from which new nuclear power stations continue to profit to this very day.
In 1985, the experimental power station was decommissioned and has been dismantled over the past 25 years. And the former power station is now a green field.
In an official completion ceremony on October 22 and 23, tribute was paid to the VAK's successful pioneering work, honoring its countless achievements and the conclusion of the dismantling measures.
To create an information and exhibition space, RÖDER erected a 1,500-m² tent landscape with a large 20x40-m tent, several wine tents and a dome tent* in which the VAK's history was put on show.
We would like to warmly thank our partners for their involvement in this event: Deko-Studio Schwab, Fath, Rola-Trac, Party Rent and Power Company
